600mm Deep Wire Shelf

Last week we released our latest shelf into the StoreWALL accessories range. The 600mm Deep Wire Shelf is exclusive to our Australian and New Zealand market. It has been specifically designed for those large plastic bins that we have all accumulated and want to store on our Slatwall wall panels.

Following a lot of requests from customers for deeper shelving options, we looked around the market for options that we could introduce which would be wide and deep enough for those clunky items that we all have at home in our garages.

StoreWALL already offers a large range of shelving options including wired shelving and shelving using our heavy-duty brackets. The depth of these options however only extends out to 381mm and many customers wanted something a lot deeper.

Shelving Options

The market is full of shelving options. Most however are either stand-alone shelves (racking) or they need to be bolted to your wall. StoreWALL is all about your Slatwall garage wall panels. Everything we offer is designed to work with your Slatwall installation.

Working with the same group which designed our Power Tool Shelf, we got to work designing our new 600mm Deep Wire Shelf.

Having only arrived in Australia a few weeks ago we have already seen huge demand for the shelves. Most customers are buying 2 or even 8 of the shelves to line the length of their garage. Being competitively priced has helped spur demand.

Specifications

The specification of the shelf is 600mm deep (off the wall), 900mm wide (end to end), and 190mm high (height of the brackets and shelf).

The shelf comes in 3 parts which you set up yourself on your wall. One shelf and 2 brackets. The brackets come with the L Shaped Lip to slot into your Slatwall. They also have pre-cut-out grooves for the wire shelf to sit into. You place one bracket at either end and the shelf on top settled into the pre-cut-out grooves.

Note, this shelf does not have the standard StoreWALL CamLok to secure it to your wall panels. It has the L Shaped Lip only.

The weight it can handle is listed as 35kgs (tested by me locally). However, our supplier advises that it can hold a lot more than this. By adding an additional bracket, you can make it stronger and then comfortably hold more in weight.

The 600mm Deep Wire Shelf is only available in Australia and New Zealand.

New Slatwall Shelving Solutions

Over the coming month we will be launching a new range of StoreWALL Slatwall Shelving Solutions which have been designed specifically for our local Australian market.

Our New Slatwall Shelving Solutions will be made from metal and will be compatible with all StoreWALL Slatwall Panels. This includes our StoreWALL Basic, Standard and Heavy Duty panel range.

Garage Tool Organiser

Our existing plastic Garage Tool Organiser has been super popular since we introduced it over 18mths ago. We thought we could however make some simple improvements which would make it extra useful for our customers. The latest version of the Garage Tool Organiser will:

be made from metal (2mm thickness).
have the ability to be added and removed easily from your wall panel.
come with pre-cut holes for your tools.
be powder coated.
be quite a bit larger than the existing model at 200mm (depth) x 600mm (length) x 20mm (height).

Additionally, this shelf will be compatible with many other Slatwall panels on the market at the moment including StorEase sold by Bunnings.

812mm Metal Shelf

We are also introducing a new metal shelf which has a similar design to the Garage Tool Organiser minus the holes. This shelf has been designed so that it can be easily added and removed from your slatwall panel. There will no longer be the need to install it from the exposed side of the panel.

The 812mm Metal Shelf will have a thickness of 2mm making it quite strong and able to carry a reasonable amount of weight. Note however that this shelf does not come with the StoreWALL CamLok locking mechanism. Therefore you will need to be careful with the amount of weight held on it.

The dimensions of this new shelf are: 200mm (depth) x 812mm (length) x 20mm (height).

Slatwall Shelving Solutions -Metal Shelf

This shelf will also be compatible with most Slatwall panels on the market.

Slatwall Shelving Solutions – Floating Shelf

The last of the three new shelves is a 812mm Floating Shelf which has been designed to work with our range of StoreWALL Brackets (254mm and 381mm).

This new shelf has been designed in line with our existing 1219mm Shelf. It is a fully enclosed shelf which can be added to your existing StoreWALL brackets or any brackets you have purchased from your local hardware store.

The Metal Shelf is also made from metal (1mm thickness). Its dimensions are 254mm (depth) x 812mm (length) x 20mm (height).

These shelves are in the process of making their way to Australia and we hope to have them available over the coming 4 weeks (mid October). We will however let you know when they become available and their pricing via our newsletter once they have arrived.

Magnetic Garage Shelf

One of the many latest editions to the StoreWALL range is the Magnetic Garage Shelf. Well its actually a Magnetic Bar but with its CamLok locking system. Once securely attached to your StoreWALL panels it in fact becomes a very handy shelf for you many tools.

How is it made?

The 609mm Magnetic Garage Shelf is secured with 2 CamLok equipped backplates which once attached to your StoreWALL Garage Panels ensure it will never move or fall. The outer metal bars are made from durable nickel and inside the plates there are several magnets about 20mm in depth. The outside of the bar is powder coated a stone grey colour to match all other StoreWALL accessories.

Using Nickel bars to secure the magnets, the Magnetic Garage Shelf will resist chipping, dings and dents.

Being all metal and magnets, its actually a rather heavy accessory for its size weighing about 2KG.

Unique StoreWALL Magnetic Garage Shelf

Having invested some time searching the market for something similar, I am confident that there are not many other Magnetic Garage Shelfs or bars available today. I think you will struggle to find something similar from your local Bunnings, Mitre 10 or similar hardware store. It is quite a unique accessory. With the StoreWALL CamLok backplates, it is also one of the most secure on the market as well.

The last you would want is for the shelf to securely hold your tools using its strong magnets, but for the shelf itself to fall from the wall panel. StoreWALL’s CamLok prevents this and as you can see from the below video, there is no way it will come loose from the wall panels.

Storage Options

StoreWALL’s Magnetic Garage Shelf can hold anything with metal in it. In the demonstration below, I have secured screw drivers, spanners, a hammer, measuring tape and a knife. They all sat securely on the magnetic bar and showed no signs of falling off.

The Shelf not only works on StoreWALL panels but will work on many other garage wall panel systems as well. You will even get CamLok working on your alternative wall.

Garage, WorkShop, Tool Shed

Garage, Workshop and Tool Shed are what immediately come to mind when I think about who will benefit from the Magnetic Bar. However it doesn’t need to be heavy tools that you attach to it. Think about smaller items that usually float around your benchtop. Items like Allen Keys, drill bits and tools, smaller spanners that are easy to misplace.

StorEase Smart Rail

Over the past fortnight, I have been receiving calls from customers looking for accessories for their StorEase Slimline Smart Rail. The StorEase Slimline Smart Rail Wall Bracket is sold by Bunnings and allows you to clip on a broad range of accessories for your garage, sporting gear or workshop.

StoreWALL is not StorEase

StoreWALL is not StorEase. Whilst most of our accessories might work on the StorEase range of Wall Brackets, it is not the same product nor quality. I’d like to think StoreWALL is a much better solution, but I will let you be the judge of that.

About a year ago, I did an in-depth review of the StoreEase Aluminium Smart Wall Panel and one of its more popular accessories. The review includes several videos and has proven to be rather popular. The Smart Wall Panel is very similar to the StorEase Slimline Smart Rail but it is a slightly wider wall panel and raw aluminium in colour. The StorEase Slimline Smart Rail is painted Black.

StorEase Slimline Smart Rail Compared

Some of the key difference between the two StorEase panels is that the Wall Track Slimline is a different Colour, a different Width and has a different groove for locking the accessory. In fact, several of the calls I have received have actually been specifically about the StorEase Slimline Smart Rail locking mechanism.

The price of the StorEase Slimline Smart Rail is about $30.82 and its dimensions are: W:105 H:10 L:1200. The Smart Wall panel is priced similarly but its dimensions are: W:158 H:5 L:1200. About 50mm wider. In fact, it now seems (2023) that the Wall Panel can only be purchased directly from StorEase as it is no longer featured on the Bunnings website.

StorEase Slimline Smart Rail Review

So I ventured down to my local Bunnings Store to see for myself what the StorEase Slimline Smart Rail looked like and how it worked. I had the opportunity to test it with one of the StorEase hooks and I have included some photos and video below.

It didn’t take long to work out where the confusion and calls were coming from. I honestly didn’t find the StorEase Slimline Smart Rail very intuitive. As you can see from the video, trying to secure the hook to the rail was not easy and I wouldn’t be confident hanging heavy items from it.

This is in contrast to what I found with the Smart Wall Panel in my review. It secured the hook a lot better (probably a little too well). The StorEase Slimline Smart Rail looks nicer with its powder-coated black colour. It is also slimmer which makes it less visible on the wall. It just didn’t quite do the job when it comes to holding the accessories. This is supported by some of the reviews on the Bunnings website.

Comparing StoreWALL

StoreWALL’s wall panel system is in many ways similar to what is offered by StorEase but also quite different. For one, StoreWALL is not a rail, it is a wall panel, designed to cover your wall area. You can cover as much as you need to. Also, each wall panel is double the width of the StorEase product. The width of the panel is about 300mm (30cm) as opposed to the StorEase panel being 150mm (15cm). Being wider it has room for two rows of grooves and can therefore fit more accessories. You would need to join two StorEase panels together to get the same result.

Price wise the 1.2m StoreWALL panel is $69.99 sold separately and slightly cheaper purchased in a carton of 4. The cost of two StorEase Slimline Smart Rails is about $61.64.

Another key difference is the accessory range. StoreWALL’s accessories are designed to be attached to the panel and then locked in. There is no threat of the accessory falling off the panel. The CamLok locking mechanism eliminates this. See the below video on how it works.

StoreWALL Accessories

StoreWALL’s accessories are priced a little higher than the equivalent from StorEase but as noted the quality and locking mechanism are different. The panels are also not aluminium but hardened thermoplastic which will not change shape, or attract rust or mold. They also come in several colours so you can match them to your wall colour or other cabinetry in the garage.

Having tested the StorEase Smart Wall Panel (wider panel), I can confirm that you can use the StoreWALL accessories on your StorEase Smart Wall Panel.

THIS HOWEVER DOES NOT APPLY TO THE STOREASE SLIMLINE SMART RAIL. OUR ACCESSORIES WILL FIT BUT THE GROOVE IS NOT DEEP ENOUGH TO SECURE THE CAMLOK.

Below is an example of what one client did in Melbourne. They had a StorEase rail in the garage and added 2 StoreWALL U Hooks to hang this dart board.

Slatwall Garage Storage

StoreWALL has recently launched its latest Wall Panel range – StoreWALL Basic Duty. StoreWALL Basic Duty will launch as our entry level slatwall garage storage solution designed to be more affordable and accessible for home and garage owners.

StoreWALL Basic Duty Wall Panel will be reaching Australia in mid to late June 2019 and will join our already popular StoreWALL Standard Duty range. The Basic Duty Slatwall Garage Storage Panel comes in two colours, Grey and White and both will be available in Australia.

The new range continues to be provide a hard plastic wall panel finish ideal of your garage or home. It is easy to clean, hard wearing and weather proof. Installation is made even easier than before. InstallStrips are NOT AN OPTION with the Basic Duty Panel, it can only be installed via screws from the face of the panel directly into the wall.

Many Australians are looking for new ways to tidy up their garage and have admired the simplicity of StoreWALL. Unfortunately for some, the Standard Duty Slatwall Garage Storage Panel has been outside of their budget. The Basic Duty Panel gives Australians a new option which is affordable, easy to use and install.

Tidy up your Garage

StoreWALL’s Basic Duty Wall Panel is compatible with all StoreWALL accessories including all Hooks, Brackets, Shelves, Baskets and Bags. CamLok is just as effective with the Basic Panel.

We are launching the Basic Duty Panel in a 1.2m size with both Grey and White colours. They will be sold in packs of 4 (1 carton) and as individual panels. A 2.4m option is available in the US and we may consider this down the track as we get feedback from home owners.

Pricing for the new range is almost half of the Standard Duty Panel at $170 for 4 panels. Each panel is 1219mm (length) x 304.8mm (height) x 16.7mm (thickness). Four panels per carton covers 1.48 sq meters.

In terms of Installation, we recommend you use approx 20 screws per panel. Get more details from our online store.

Home Garage Storage

Every day I pass new homes and catch a glimpse of their garages only to see a mixture of home garage storage made up of shelves, hooks with hanging items from the wall and lots and lots of items sitting on the ground by both walls.

I suppose once you have invested so much money onto a new home and garden, the last thing you want is to invest more money into your garage? It’s already built, the four walls are there.

Just like a kitchen however, it needs cupboards, bench space, cooking appliances, washing accessories and so on.

Home Garage Storage Options

Your garage is much the same. It needs furniture to make it work. Furthermore, garages in most modern homes sit at the front of the home and are usually the first room you see when you arrive.

Pass any new home with a packed and messy garage and you don’t get a great first impression. Unlike the older homes with the garage at the end of the driveway, new homes make a statement with their garages. They are also another entry point into the house.

Home garage storage is best done over time but with a combination of furniture which will help you manage both large and small items. Items which are used regularly and those that aren’t. Items that are long and short as well as awkward. Garages also need to store everything else the home doesn’t want.

Home Garage Shelving

Every garage definitely needs shelving, but going end to end with shelving will also take up a lot of room because it is usually 500mm deep. This is space you no longer have if your garage is made of mostly shelving.
