StoreWALL Ultra Duty Wide Hook
StoreWALL Ultra Duty Wide Hook
The Ultra Duty Wide Hook is the go-to choice when you need both extreme capacity and extreme width. At 330mm wide and rated to 80kg, it's designed for the broadest, heaviest items in your garage — car bike racks, off-season tyres, kayaks, and oversized sports equipment that simply won't sit safely on a narrower hook.
The 152mm backplate distributes load across four panel grooves for maximum holding strength, and CamLok™ comes pre-installed for secure, tool-free mounting. Most customers buy in pairs for balanced support on longer or wider items. The hook's coating protects stored items from scratches.
At $127.99 it's a significant investment — but it's built for items that nothing else in the range handles reliably.

What the Ultra Duty Wide Hook is best for
- Car bike racks — hitch racks and platform-style carriers take up enormous floor space when not in use. Use two hooks to lift the rack off the floor and onto the wall. The 330mm wide opening accommodates the widest rack frames, and the 80kg capacity handles even the heaviest multi-bike carriers
- Off-season tyres — hanging unmounted tyres (never stacking them) is the correct way to store seasonal tyres. Hanging reduces stress on the tyre sidewall compared to stacking, extending tyre life. The wide hook cradles the tyre at its widest point. One hook per tyre.
- Kayaks and canoes — use two hooks to support the hull at two points. Add rubber padding or pool noodle sections over each hook to protect the hull finish
- Surfboards and paddleboards — wide cradle supports the board deck without stress points. Use two hooks for full-length support
- Large ladders — rung or rail width supported across the full 330mm hook opening
- Oversized sports and outdoor gear — anything too wide for the standard HD Utility Hook
Tyre storage — why hanging is better than stacking
Stacking tyres concentrates the weight of the upper tyres on the lower ones, deforming the sidewalls over time. Hanging tyres eliminates this entirely — each tyre bears only its own weight, distributed evenly around the circumference. If you store seasonal tyres for 4–6 months of the year, hanging them properly can meaningfully extend their usable life.
Store one tyre per hook. Never hang a tyre that is still mounted on a rim using this hook — a mounted tyre/wheel combination should use a different storage method.
Ultra Duty Hook Range
- Ultra Duty Utility Hook — 150mm wide, 381mm deep, 80kg. For kayaks, tyres on a narrower hook, and deep-reach storage where width isn't the constraint.
- Ultra Duty Wide Hook (this product) — 330mm wide, 250mm deep, 80kg. For bike racks, wide tyres, surfboards, and broad items where width is the constraint.
- Ultra Duty 635mm Surf & Paddle Board Bracket — purpose-built bracket for surfboards and paddleboards requiring maximum support across a wider span.
Frequently asked questions
Can I hang a mounted tyre and rim on this hook?
No — this hook is designed for unmounted tyres only. A mounted tyre/wheel combination is heavier and distributes weight differently. Never hang a mounted wheel using this hook.
How many hooks do I need for a car bike rack?
Two — one supporting each end of the rack frame. Space them to match the rack's width so it hangs level. The 80kg capacity per hook (160kg across two) handles the heaviest multi-bike hitch racks.
Do I need Heavy Duty panels for this hook?
Heavy Duty or Standard Duty panels installed with InstallStrips are recommended. The 80kg capacity assumes InstallStrips are in place — without them, panel load capacity drops approximately 75% and the hook's rated capacity cannot be achieved.
Is it compatible with all StoreWALL panels?
Compatible with Standard Duty, Heavy Duty StoreWALL panels, and MKE Slatwall panels. The CamLok fits the same 76mm on-centre groove pitch across all three.
