StoreWALL 400mm Deep Floating Metal Shelf
StoreWALL 400mm Deep Floating Metal Shelf
A deep, heavy-gauge metal shelf for storing larger items that don't suit a standard shallow shelf — storage tubs, toolboxes, larger power tools, paint tins, and anything that needs real depth behind it. At 400mm deep and 820mm wide, it provides significantly more surface area than the plastic floating shelves, and the 2mm powder-coated steel construction handles serious weight without flex.
Mounts to StoreWALL panels via 381mm Heavy Duty Brackets (sold separately). Sold as a single shelf.

Why this shelf — and when to choose it over the plastic shelves
The 400mm depth is the main differentiator. The plastic floating shelves are 254mm deep — enough for spray cans, tools, and lighter items. This shelf is 400mm deep, which fits larger storage tubs, bigger toolboxes, bulkier items, and anything where you need the extra reach from the wall.
The 2mm powder-coated steel construction also handles the weight differently. Where the plastic shelf has a 45kg capacity, the metal shelf achieves that capacity with more rigidity under load — no flex at mid-span even with heavier items. For a shelf that's going to hold real weight consistently, the metal shelf is the more appropriate choice.
The plastic shelves use 254mm Brackets. This shelf uses the larger 381mm Heavy Duty Brackets — make sure you order the correct bracket when adding to your cart.
Bracket positioning
Position both 381mm brackets 152mm in from each end of the shelf. This distributes load evenly and prevents the shelf from tipping under weight concentrated at one end. For heavier loads, a third bracket in the centre is advisable.
Frequently asked questions
Are the brackets included?
No. The shelf is sold separately. You need 2 × 381mm Heavy Duty Brackets — not the 254mm brackets used for the plastic shelves. Check the You May Also Like section below to add the correct brackets to your order.
What's the weight capacity?
45kg maximum, evenly distributed across the shelf surface. Position brackets correctly and spread load — don't concentrate weight at one point or at the shelf ends.
Can I use the 254mm brackets instead of the 381mm?
No. The 400mm depth of this shelf requires the 381mm Heavy Duty Brackets to support it properly. The 254mm brackets are designed for the shallower plastic shelves and won't provide adequate support for this shelf's depth and weight capacity.
What's the difference between this and the plastic floating shelves?
The plastic shelves (812mm and 1219mm) are 254mm deep, use 254mm brackets, and are reversible with a flat side and a lipped tray side. This metal shelf is 400mm deep, uses 381mm brackets, is not reversible, and is better suited to heavier or bulkier items where depth and rigidity matter more than the tray option.
